WILLIAMS PEARS
Pears are native to Asia and more than 3,000 varieties of this fruit exist today. The Williams varieties date back to the 18th century, but its origin is still unknown.
Vacuum dried Williams pears make a delicious snack, which can be eaten on their own, but also go well with other dried fruits and nuts.
Pears can be used to spice up breakfast mixes, pastries and smoothies, and by soaking Williams pears they can be used the same as fresh fruit.
Williams pears exhibit a characteristic “pear shape” with a golden-yellow to brownish-red skin. The tree blooms from April to May and the fruits are harvested from mid-August to mid-September just before they are fully ripe.
Williams pears are cultivated particularly in Central Europe, North America and Australia, while elsewhere (e.g. in Slovenia) other varieties are more common.
Botanically, pears belong to the same family as roses.
Pear wood is used for making instruments, furniture and interior decorations.
