Grapes originate from the Middle East. First proof of viticulture has been found in the area of today’s Georgia and is about 8000 years old.
Vacuum dried grapes make an excellent snack.
You can add it to your breakfast granola, use it in baking, as decoration or instead of raisins in middle-eastern recipes.
Grapes grow on vines in clusters of 15 to 300 berries. Varieties differ and colour and size of berries which can be anything from very dark red to very light yellow and pink.
The world’s biggest producer of grapes is China, followed by the USA and Italy. The most grapes that are turned into wine grow in Spain.
Vineyards cover more that 75 000 square kilometers of Earth’s surface and produce around 72 milion tons of grapes every year.
71% of crop is turned to wine, 27% is sold fresh, 2% is used to make raisins.
